IWC released this special edition watch to benefit the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a famous pilot and author from the early 20th century, best known for his book Le Petit Prince. This year’s Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince” features a jumping star display for the day of the week.
The 44 mm, stainless-steel case houses the automatic caliber 79420 split seconds chronograph movement. The glimmering navy blue dial has three subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 12-hour and 30-minute registers, and seven stars in the center of the dial. Each of these seven stars represent a planet visited by Le Petit Prince and a different star lights up daily. However, there is no particular order in which the stars light up. Additionally, on the case back, each star is engraved with the names of the inhabitants: the king, the vain man, the drunkard, the businessman, the lamplighter, the geographer, and the rose.
In the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince,” IWC elegantly combines both the practicality of a double chronograph with fantastical elements from the story of Le Petit Prince. There is a limited run of 1,000 pieces in this collection.
