Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY
Lenovo’s IdeaPad 100-15IBY is a 15.6-inch notebook based on Intel’s Bay Trail platform. The 15.6-inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. As it uses TN technology, the viewing angles are limited. It is not apt for outdoor usage in bright daylight, since the glossy screen which tends to reflect the light. The chassis of the IdeaPad is made entirely from matte black plastics. The surfaces are slightly roughened. The IdeaPad is equipped with a non-illuminated Chiclet keyboard. The flat and slightly roughened keys have a medium travel and a well-defined pressure point. This model is powered by Intel’s Pentium N3540 (Bay Trail) quad-core processor. The CPU runs at a nominal clock of 2.16 GHz, which can be increased to 2.66 GHz via Turbo. This is good enough for office and web applications. Storage capacity comes in the form of a 500 GB hard drive.
The HD Graphics of the IdeaPad is based on the Bay Trail generation which supports DirectX 11 and runs at up to 896 MHz. It is primarily suitable for simple, casual games from the Windows Store. Complex 3D games on the other hand, are not possible. The single speaker is above the keyboard behind a perforated cover and it produces a thin sound that lacks bass. Voices are easy to understand, but for a better sound experience, a pair of headphones or external speakers are recommended. Notable features are a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, a 4 in 1 card reader, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.
