In 2005, Tamaraw Revo AUV was replaced by the new model Toyota Innova. All the traces of the AUV predecessor were removed along with the name “Tamaraw” on the new model of the Japanese car manufacturer.
The new Toyota Innova possesses a sleek aerodynamic silhouette making it distinct to an MPV. This latest 2nd generation Innova landed on the Philippine shores in early 2016. Its dimensions are bigger compared to the model it replaced.
Looking in the overall appearance of Toyota Innova, it still looks like an MPV but the styling is already inspired by SUV and crossover models of Toyota. The front part of the vehicle is dominated by a large angular grille with large swept-back headlights on both sides.
This gives the car a more aggressive look similar to that of the Highlander SUV of the US-market. The sides of the new Toyota Innova feature prominent shoulder lines and clean lines. The near-triangular D-pillars, upswept rearmost side windows, and angular horizontal tail lights that come with prominent corners look very similar to the RAV4.
Toyota Innova possesses premium looks. The Innova removed the dullness and applied liveliness in the MUV segment. The latest model is more mature compared to the first generation. The Japanese carmaker has given the Innova a set of large and wide headlamps together with a big front grille. These two complimented each other very well. It brings out a demanding road presence
The Innova has a spacious and comfortable interior that makes it a very practical choice. The passengers in the front and middle row got a generous amount of leg and headroom. If you wish to maximize the luggage capacity, all you have to do is to fold the last and second row of seats depending on your likes and needs.
A 2.8L diesel 1GD-FTV engine resides under the Innova’s hood – the same one found in the Fortuner, albeit detuned to 171 hp and 360 Nm of torque. Even with the demerit on power output, the Innova could deliver. It wasn’t fast per se but it employed an enormous pull that could bring the heavy MPV up to speeds easily. You won’t need to worry about its durability and reliability because it is a Toyota engine.
The Innova acquired a five-star ASEAN-NCAP safety rating for adult occupant category. It has lots of safety features such as EBD, ABS, BA, VSC, TRC, HAC, 7 airbags and a researched and advanced body structure that can effectively absorb the impact in case of an unforeseen collision.
